Summary


Fighter pilot Frank Mares always believed he had a guardian angel watching over him - and in the skies over Northern France in April 1941 he was proved right.

Making an attack on an oil storage tank, the lone airman was suddenly attacked from behind by an enemy aircraft. Bullet holes riddled the starboard wing of his Hurricane and a cannon shell exploded behind his seat, sending fragments smashing into his cockpit and instrument panel.
