A t a time in life when many folk are content to settle into leisurely retirement, Rose Hilton has recently been enjoying a wonderful flurry of acclaim and creativity. Last week the 77-year- old painter returned to her West Cornwall home in jubilant spirits after the opening of her prestigious solo exhibition at London's Messum's Gallery and the launch of a frank and revealing new book about her life and work. Last year there was a comprehensive retrospective at the Tate St Ives.
