Even for a newspaper whose stock in trade was the merciless exploitation of human frailty for the delectation of the masses, the headline, "F1 boss has sick Nazi orgy with five hookers," must have been the occasion of particular delight.

Of course, there was a problem. The Formula One president, Max Mosley, was neither an MP, nor a clergyman, nor in the "morality business" generally. That was why the word "Nazi" was included. It enabled The News of The World to suggest that Mosley's deviant psyche was a matter of legitimate public interest. Given that his father was the wartime fascist leader, Sir Oswald Mosley, it was a reasonable assumption that his son would just crawl away.
