Summary
I WOULD very much like to endorse Sir John Banham's article in your paper of July 18 referring to the need to confront the major problem in this country - providing realistic affordable homes for first-time buyers in a sensible way for the betterment of all; something paramount in Devon and Cornwall, which are at crisis point.
The main thing is how to get round land prices to be able then to build an affordable house on the site. Sir John's idea of approaching local landowners/farmers to participate in investing in a Real Estate Investment Trust which should be part of a county council pension fund and for others who would wish to buy shares is just one answer to the problem.See the full content of this document
