Summary
The little girl was colouring furiously. She didn't see her mother standing watching her with interest. Eventually the girl's mother had to ask: "What are you drawing dear?" The girl didn't even look up from her work as she answered: "I'm drawing a picture of God." The mother wanted to be encouraging but felt she had to say: "But darling, nobody knows what God looks like." This time the girl stopped what she was doing, put her crayons down, looked at her mother and said: "They will when I've finished this."
Ask any group of people what God is like and you will get a variety of responses. The Bible contains a variety of pictures and ideas trying to convey an understanding of God. One of the most enduring pictures comes in the song we know as Psalm 23.
