Summary
WHEN the food movement really got into its stride in the Westcountry, in the wake of the 2001 foot and mouth disaster, the ambition of many producers was to put the region firmly on the map for the quality of its food. We had the climate, we had the farmers and growers and we had the traditions, they argued, all we needed was the recognition.
Today, as we stand on the cusp of yet another food festival season with the Exeter event about to kick off, we can justifiably say that we are closer than ever to achieving that status.
