THERE'S a line in a Beatles song about being on a bus when "somebody spoke, and I went into a dream..." That's what happened to Tony Bramwell.

It was 1960 and the 15-year-old schoolboy got on a bus in Liverpool to go to see a band "direct from Hamburg, Germany" who were giving a concert in the city. On the bus, he saw his old pal George Harrison sitting there with his guitar. Tony asked George where he was going and he told him he and the band were playing a concert.

Slowly, it dawned on Tony that George was a member of the "German" band - and offered to carry his guitar so he could get free entrance to the concert.

It was the first time he had seen them perform as The Beatles. He loved what he heard and from that day on, Tony was at all their concerts, carrying guitars and generally making himself useful.
