Summary
In August, the UK Border Agency (UKBA) undertook a series of raids throughout the South West, checking to see whether businesses were employing illegal workers. Twenty illegal workers were detained - including one Chinese man in Torquay who tried to escape by running into the sea!
For the businesses employing these workers, the raids are no laughing matter. They face fines of up to Pounds 10,000 per illegal worker unless they can prove that they made the effort to carry out the right checks before employing the workers.See the full content of this document
