IN FROM the beach the flat, open expanse of marshland is a joy. Cattle country, some of it, swan, moorhen, water rail and heron country with reed fringed ponds and dykes. Later there'll be an abundance of wild flowers, butterflies, dragonflies and other insects.
It is also good here for fox watching and is the birthplace of "Old Red" in my tale of a Devon Fox. I saw a fox here, dash out and pick up a duck shot by a wildfowler who came along scratching his head, wondering where the bird had gone. All in my tale.See the full content of this document
