Lace (pictured right) - who committed suicide in Brixham, South Devon, in 1988 - admitted the murder to police. But by then, Sean Hodgson had already been convicted of Miss De Simone's murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, and Lace's claims were ignored.

After 27 years in prison, Mr Hodgson's conviction was quashed at the Court of Appeal in March this year.
