Plans to build thousands of homes across the Westcountry have been pulled after the Government scrapped regional house building targets, according to new research. The National Housing Federation (NHF) believes the need for new homes has been "downgraded" as a result of abolishing regional spatial strategies (RSS), with the number of new homes being built now at its lowest level for almost 90 years.
The RSS for the South West would have imposed targets on all local authorities to create a specific number of new homes and jobs in their areas, with more than 500,000 new homes earmarked for the wider South West over the next 20 years.See the full content of this document
