U pholstery used to feel like such a dull subject; we were always asked for the most durable and practical of coverings, something that is "safe", a fabric and style that won't date too quickly. Today, I am happy to report, our task in the upholstery field is quite a different one. We can be much more adventurous, with some surprising and alternative results!
Breathe new life into tired-looking upholstered furniture by reupholstering the pieces. Provided the furniture is comfortable and structurally sound, then by reinventing the piece you get to create totally bespoke furnishing for your home. Look to the fashion industry for your inspiration - stitching details, buttons, contrast trimming and, of course, a mix of fabrics. Who says that an upholstered sofa should be covered head to toe in one fabric alone?
