Summary
A thrilling day of racing will be on the cards at Exeter Racecourse on New Year's day as thousands of racegoers are expected to head to the popular track. "A New Year's meeting at Exeter has been a tradition for many years. People have done everything else over Christmas so now they like to get out in the fresh air and blow away the cobwebs," explained commercial executive Vicki Robinson. "It's an exciting and exhilarating sport and one that everyone can understand - the first horse past the post wins." The New Year card sees seven races, with the Thurlestone Hotel 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle kicking off at 12.40pm. Grandstand and Paddock badges cost pounds13 while premier tickets, allowing exclusive access into the Haldon Stand, are pounds18. For more details visit www.exeter-racecourse. co.uk
