CIVIC leaders in Newquay, which has seen its reputation blighted by a number of deaths and other serious incidents in recent weeks, should rally round and help create "an improved image for the town", says the head of policing in Cornwall.

Chief Superintendent Elaine Marshall, the commander for policing Cornwall, spoke out yesterday after two teenagers died in the town - one of whom was pictured drinking in a restaurant despite being aged just 16.
