In September 2005 people like me who live at The Lizard and Ruan Minor were offered the chance to buy a Broadband connection, after years of waiting while the rest of the country was enjoying its advantages.
When I signed up for Broadband with BT, I was told the Broadband speed for my area could only be the minimum 512Kbps (kilobits per second) because there was too much distance between my house and the exchange - but not to worry, it would soon be improved to at least 1 megabit. In fact it turned out that the actual measured maximum is 425Kbps. But OK, I said, grateful to have any Broadband at all after waiting so long.
