Object Thrown at Bus Windscreen

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager threw an object at a bus windscreen. The bus, carrying about 30 passengers, was hit in Stenalees, near St Austell. A teenager, described as about 13-years-old with blond hair, threw an object at the windscreen as the Western Greyhound bus was travelling at about 40mph. The driver had to brake sharply. The incident happened at about 5pm on Thursday, March 15. Sgt Ian Drummond-Smith said: "This was a reckless and stupid attack on a bus full of passengers. The quick reaction of the driver averted what could have been a very serious incident." Any witnesses should call St Austell police station on 08452 777 444 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting GA/ 07/712.

TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of theft after police found a number of stainless steel pipes on the back of their lorry. Officers made the discovery while carrying out a routine operation using Automatic Number Plate Recognition equipment on the A38 at Drumbridges, Devon, on March 13. There were more than a dozen 6ft long pipes, as well as some stainless steel containers, on the lorry. The men were later released on bail.
