Relations between the owners of a grand piano and the removal firm that dropped it were less than harmonious yesterday as an argument erupted over whether the pounds26,000 instrument can be repaired.

The Bsendorfer piano was bought at auction by Penny Adie, who with her husband John organises the Two Moors Festival, which was launched to bring life to rural Devon after the 2001 foot and mouth disease epidemic.
