While the doom and gloom merchants may ultimately turn out to be right, there seems to be very little evidence of an inevitable recession from our latest survey of Westcountry firms. In fact, business managers remain stubbornly optimistic that they can at least keep their workloads and staffing static for the time being, regardless of the global credit crunch now hitting consumers and trade.
More than 60 per cent of firms surveyed remain optimistic about trading conditions in the coming year, which - although a marked fall off from 75 per cent in July last year - is nonetheless a positive trend.See the full content of this document
