ORGANIC farming helps the economies of Westcountry communities, according to a new report. The study, carried out by the University of Exeter for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), provides evidence on the problems and prospects for organic farming - particularly relevant in the South West with its high proportion of organic producers.
Though the socio-economic impact of organic farming on rural areas has its limitations, according to the findings, organic production involving large numbers of small local producers is, nonetheless, beneficial to rural economies.See the full content of this document
