Summary


MRS S G Sandy (letter, August 17) accuses those who argue against a double vote for second home owners in local government elections of being exponents of "the politics of envy".

The question boils down to one of the meaning of residency: What should we understand by the term "resident"? That a person is generally at home in a particular building in a particular place; that it is the place in which the owner conducts his/her life, and go out from to engage with neighbours, with a workplace, with society, with services - on a daily basis.
