Summary
The Big Bang Firepower is back at Pendennis Castle in Cornwall for the bank holiday weekend. On Sunday and Monday, from noon until 4pm, the big guns will be out to create an explosive atmosphere and reveal all about the castle's historic role in defending the Cornish coast. Over 400 years of firepower will be demonstrated with live firing from the Spanish Armada in 1588, right up until the Second World War. For information about Pendennis Castle, call 01326 316 594 or visit www.english-heritage.org.uk/pendennis. Buccaneers beware Bank Holiday Monday is Pirate Day at St Michael's Mount. There will be a feast of sea faring surprises as well as tales from the deep by professional storyteller Mark Harandon. The Pendeen Brass Band will perform and children coming dressed as Pirates will win a prize if they are able to discover the Mount's very own Captain Keith roaming the island! Entertainment comes from the Slapdash Trio and the ever popular Duelling Kazoos. There's a free bouncy castle for children, face-painting throughout the day and a summer barbecue. From 11am to 5pm.
