REGARDING your front page headline "Cancer plan: MPs' plea to minister" (December 7), as the member of the former Cornwall County Council's health and social services scrutiny committee who moved the recommendations at the April meeting to approve the move of the upper gastric intestinal (GI) cancer services from the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, I would make the following comments.
Having listened to the views of national experts in the field, and the legitimate concerns of patients and campaigners, I believed the move would lead to the creation of a "centre of excellence".See the full content of this document
