Sayings. As ever with anything you might read here, the content is not held up as being scientifically arrived at or tested to the limit. These are random phrases that I have come across during my time thus far with the French in-laws.
Going back a bit now, "Monsieur Bertillon est douanier", is a phrase engraved on my memory from school - around 1737 I think. Mr B was not only a Customs officer, but the central character in my then French book "Le Franais d'Aujourd'hui". A gripping and then quite modern publication with lots of scenes, pictures with vocab (to learn for a weekly test - ugh!), family stories and different chapters looking at differing aspects of M Bertillon's rather normal life.See the full content of this document
