Polar Paul Ready for 'Toughest Challenge'

A Westcountry adventurer has been selected to take part in what is described as "p ro b -ably the world's toughest race".

Paul Gurney, 31, has been selected as an entrant to the Polar Race 2013 - a gruelling 400-mile race from Canada to the North Pole. The unique expedition, organised by polar veteran Jock Wishart, will see 12 competitors battle it out over a five-week period, skiing and trekking to the North Pole. Starting from Resolute Bay in Nunuvat, Canada's newest territory, the competitors will have to fend for themselves, with no guide, in temperatures as low as -50C.
