The fragile state of frontline policing in Devon and Cornwall has been exposed by Government inspectors who ranked it the worst in the country.
Just nine per cent of "visible" police officers and community support officers were "available for duty" according to a snapshot survey carried out by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary. The figures placed Devon and Cornwall Police at the bottom of a national league table of the 43 forces in England and Wales.See the full content of this document
