Detectives searching for a man they believe committed a rape in a Cornish resort have released a description of a suspect they want to question. During the incident, a 21-year-old man was approached by another man after leaving the Barracuda nightclub in Newquay. They walked a short way before the victim was struck on the head and sexually assaulted by the stranger. The suspect is described as white, aged 22 to 25, of slim build with a Newcastle accent. He was wearing a white, tight-fitting short-sleeved top with splashes of grey pattern, dark trousers and dark trainers. The crime happened at about 3am on August 28. A MAN in his seventies was airlifted to hospital yesterdayafter he was injured in a two-vehicle road accident in North Devon. The man, who has not been named, was driving a Daihatsu camper van, which was in collision with a blue Peugeot 306 on the A3123 at Berry Down Cross between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin at 12.20pm. He was trapped and had to be freed by emergency services. Two fire engines from Ilfracombe attended. Crews removed a gas cylinder from the camper van and used two sets of hydraulic equipment to release the man who was taken to North Devon District Hospital, Barnstaple.
