A have-a-go hero who fought with an armed store raider was praised for his bravery and awarded pounds250 from public funds by a judge yesterday.
At Exeter Crown Court, Judge Graham Cottle said of Taduesz Zmuda: "He was an extremely courageous member of staff who realised the store had been robbed and did his level best without regard to his own safety to hang on to the raider despite being struck in the head and chest with a claw hammer and stabbed in the thigh with a pointed instrument.See the full content of this document
