Pressure for Referendum Is Gathering Momentum

Summary

I believe we are winning the argument that the people of the UK ought to be consulted in a referendum before the EU Constitutional Treaty (mark two) is ratified. Your political columnist Chris Moncrieff clearly believes there should be a referendum as does Kate Ironside (bit of a surprise this), and thousands of ordinary people, all over the country, agree. Some national newspapers are, apparently campaigning openly for a referendum, and some Labour and Conservative MPs are calling for one, although, sadly, we cannot trust David Cameron after he reneged on his promise to pull his MEPs out of the federalist group in the European Parliament. Only the Labour Government and the Liberal Democrats are holding out against the will of the people, fearful that they might "lose" the referendum, whatever that means.

But it's only half-time. We must keep up the pressure, especially in the run-up to the party conference season. So what can people do? Visit the Downing Street website, if you can, and sign one or all of the petitions on there which call for a referendum.
