Summary
The market in the first half of this year has followed a very similar pattern to that of 2010. Having started the year strongly, with steadily increasing demand and activity through January, February and March and encouraging levels of activity, there was a sudden slowdown as soon as the Easter school holidays began, with the succession of bank holidays, the Royal wedding and beautiful spring weather.
The anticipation was that this was essentially due to many people making use of short weeks and fine weather to go off on holiday and that, by the beginning of May, activity would resume busy levels.See the full content of this document
