The case of the hotel owners Mr and Mrs Bull, ordered to pay compensation after refusing a homosexual couple a double room (WMN Jan 19) is a sad one. If the couple in question had been heterosexual but unmarried and had complained they would have been laughed out of court. If Peter and Hazelmary Bull had been Muslims it would be Steven Preddy and Martyn Hall who would have been prosecuted for racism and Islamophobia, and that is not a criticism of Islam, only a reflection of what this country has become.
What about the rights of Christians? That, too, is not an intended derogatory or rhetorical remark against gay couples, only it seems that some people in our society are more equal than others.See the full content of this document
