The risk of a nuclear accident at the Westcountry's submarine base is getting "progressively worse" as Government budget cuts hit resources, an official report has warned.

Devonport in Plymouth is home to six operational nuclear-powered submarines, ten decommissioned boats, and a range of nuclear engineering work. However, an internal report by the Ministry of Defence's senior nuclear watchdog has highlighted ongoing concerns about safety standards, staffing levels, expertise and overall resources.
