Brace yourselves for the weekend! If the swell forecast charts are to be believed the biggest swell of the year is going to hit our shores in the next two or three days. Massive waves look set to assault the coastline and provide amazing surf for those experienced or mad enough to take on the mountains of water that will be crashing ashore. They did it almost exactly a year ago in the Gold Rush Big Wave Contest and this could be the chance to do it again.
Skinners Brewery is sponsoring the big wave contest this time and the top 16 big wave riders in Britain are awaiting the phone call or text giving them a couple of days' notice that the Gold Rush is on. Last year's event was awesome - an often over-used word but entirely appropriate in this context - with huge surf and incredible surfing.
