One is that they need to be more ruthless and make more of their possession, and the second is that they cannot afford to concede goals as soft as the two they gifted to a distinctly average Grimsby Town side.

For 70 minutes at Blundell Park, Exeter were so in control the game was almost a mismatch. The Devon side started superbly and took an early lead through Marcus Stewart's delightful finish, but all their hard work was undone when they conceded a soft equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
