Summary
Major targets agreed with the Government to minimise the environmental impact of pesticides have been exceeded, according to the sixth annual report of the Voluntary Initiative.
Final results for 2006-7 show the National Sprayer Testing Scheme tested machines covering almost 90 per cent of the sprayed area. The National Register of Sprayer Operators has 20,974 members responsible for around 85 per cent of the arable area.
