Science, medicine and engineering in the South West will all get a huge boost thanks to a planned pounds80 million investment by the University of Exeter.

The funding over the next three years will use pounds30 million of university funds and pounds50 million from other organisations, including the South West Regional Development Agency and businesses, for research and teaching. The investment, details of which have yet to be finalised, is designed to improve the university's international reputation and attract hi-tech firms.
