Summary
I was enraged to read Nancy Maron-Webb's letter (August 7) about an elderly lady threatened with prosecution despite having applied for council tax benefit. How dare bureaucrats treat a brave lady with such cruel contempt?
I cannot believe that this country, which boasts a welfare state, can be allowed to behave so appallingly. Treating frail older people in this way could cause enough stress to make them seriously ill.See the full content of this document
