Summary


A GREAT deal of glassware is unmarked, which can be for several reasons, not the least being the fact that it was yet another chore to add an imprint on a mould when there were literally thousands being made weekly. Even pottery was by the late 19th/early 20th century so widely available that it was really down to the vendor to encourage a sale rather than a buyer looking for something specific.

But for collectors knowing what they wanted, it was enough to be aware that their local pottery would sometimes offer pieces like the lovely "Kingfisher" charger by William de Morgan, which was made sometime during the 1890s.
