Sheep farmers in the Westcountry are in open rebellion against plans by the Government to foister European Union electronic tagging on the industry.
The National Sheep Association (NSA) says its members are totally frustrated and dismayed following the news that the introduction of electronic identification (EID) into the British sheep sector appears to be re-emerging as a very real possibility, and it is likely that it might be as early as 2010. The news that the EU seems determined to press on with its plans to introduce the requirement for sheep to be individually recorded through the use of EID comes at a time when the sheep industry is at its lowest ebb for many years - both in financial terms and in confidence.See the full content of this document
