Summary
I FIRST heard of Silvanus Trevail when his prettily-roofed school building halfway down the Stennack in St Ives was scheduled for demolition in the heartless 1980s to build a new fire and police station.
After a huge community protest, the building was saved and still stands. He was a most obscure figure at that time but his story has been thoroughly explored since and he is being recognised as the mighty and typically Victorian figure he was.See the full content of this document
