THERE are two parts to the business of reducing our carbon emissions - creating renewable forms of energy, like wind and wave power, and becoming more energy-efficient to reduce the amount of power we need to sustain our domestic and business lives.

There is no doubt at all that energy-saving side of the equation has been in the shadow of energy generation for at least a decade. While grant aid is pushed towards businesses who want to set up wind turbines, wave hubs and the like and all the focus is on creating green energy, the far less glamorous business of reducing energy use barely gets a look-in.
