Somerset Star Keen to Get Back Into Action

Summary


Cornishman Neil Edwards is relishing the prospect of the resumption of the 2007 county Championship campaign, when Somerset entertain Northamptonshire in a four-day game starting at the County Ground this morning.

During the last 12 months the 23-year-old opening batsman from Penzance has seen his cricketing career turn almost completely around. At the start of July 2006, Edwards had not played first- team cricket for 18 months for Somerset, but that all changed with the arrival of Justin Langer at the County Ground. Edwards was included in the Championship side and in his first match he shared an opening partnership of 227 with the Australian Test star, of which the youngster made 77.
