Town hall snoops acted unlawfully by spying on a family to discover if they had lied to get their children into the best local school.
Jenny Paton, Tim Joyce and their three daughters were followed by the Borough of Poole for three weeks between February 10 and March 3, 2008. Yesterday the Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT) said the council should not have used the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (Ripa) to check if the family were lying about where they lived in order to get their children into their preferred school.See the full content of this document
