Summary
MY THANKS to Hilary Vivian for sending sightings of wintering birds, including a water rail in the reeds by Bude Canal, and of bullfinch males and females feeding on shrivelled-up blackberries in both her youngest sister's and Mum's gardens. Then 250 lapwing on Bude Marshes, and wigeon, curlew, snipe and Canada geese at Maer Lake, and a pair of great crested grebe at Lower Tamar Lake. Interesting sightings indeed from someone I know loves birds deeply.
What a contrast to the disgusting situation in Malta where the illegal killing of hundreds of birds by hunters looks like continuing. The RSPB is trying to have this obscene practice stopped, but at present the mass slaughter of migrating birds across the Mediterranean remains a deep and constant sadness in those of us who love birds.See the full content of this document
