Summary


The deadly strain of bird flu found in wild swans in the Westcountry may have travelled from eastern Europe, the Government admitted last night.

Environment Secretary Hilary Benn told MPs the H5N1 strain of avian flu was "very similar" to that found in cases as far away as the Czech Republic, Romania and Poland.
