Summer Ball to Aid Cathedral Fund

Summary

Tickets have gone on sale for a summer ball to raise vital funds for Exeter Cathedral. The ball, in aid of the Cathedral's Third Millennium Campaign, will be held in the Bishop's garden on June 7. Around 300 guests will be invited to the glittering evening of live music and a five-course meal featuring local produce. The campaign seeks to raise a total of pounds8 million to support several areas of the traditional life of the cathedral, including music, the fabric of the building and its library and archives. For tickets, call Kirsti Ryall on 01392 285 975, or e-mail campaign@ exeter- cathedral.org.uk

Westcountry charity Country Holidays for Inner City Kids (CHICKS) will hold a corporate golf day in Plymouth on Friday, May 23. CHICKS organises free breaks for underprivileged children from all over the country at its retreat on Dartmoor. The charity relies solely on donations. The cost for teams of four is pounds160 and companies who do not have a team can sponsor a hole for pounds150. The day, at Elfordleigh Golf Course in Plympton, begins with a bacon roll and coffee, followed by 18 holes of golf. There will be a two-course prize presentation dinner and teams that tee off first and finish early will be able to use the leisure facilities before dinner. For more information, call Jenny Paton on 01822 811 020 or 07877 326 585.
