Supermarket in Local Road Show

Producers in the Westcountry will be supporting a major supermarket chain in a roadshow around the region. The Tesco Local Produce Road Show aims to show customers how the firm is supporting local farmers. Customers will have the chance to taste some of the best locally sourced produce on sale in the supermarket. Today, the roadshow will be at Exeter Vale Shopping Centre, where farmer Basil Cane will be exhibiting examples of his best beef from Venn Farm, near Plymouth. The firm will be promoting its new booklet guide to local produce at its Castle Street store in Taunton tomorrow. Farmer John Gould, from Launchely, near Wells, will be available to talk to customers about his beef.

INTERNATIONAL speakers on climate change and evolution will gather in East Devon for a symposium on the geology of the World Heritage Site coastline. Speakers include Dr Richard Betts of the Met Office's Hadley Centre for Climate Change, and Dr Alice Bows, of Manchester University. It will take place at Seaton town hall tomorrow from 2pm to 5pm. Tickets cost pounds4 from Seaton tourist information centre or on the door.
