HOPES the UK economy pulled out of recession in the third quarter were raised after a survey suggested the pivotal services industry expanded at its fastest rate for two years in September.
The sector - the biggest contributor to the economy - recorded a reading of 55.3 on the business activity index in the month, according to the latest Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply's (CIPS) report. It represents an increase from the 54.1 seen in August and brings the average over the third quarter to 54.2.
