Cattle producers worried about the threat of bluetongue disease this spring and summer will welcome news of a trial which showed that applying Butox SWISH every month to calves and adult animals can help control the biting midges responsible for carrying the virus.

The work, which was undertaken in Germany, showed that even brief contact with hair from treated animals killed midges rapidly for up to four weeks after treatment.
