Ministers were last night accused of consigning the spread of bovine TB to the "too-difficult file" rather than taking practical measures to convince the countryside real progress is being made.

Animal Welfare Minister Ben Bradshaw side-stepped Tory demands for an immediate comprehensive package of measures and instead urged MPs to await the final report of the independent scientific group (ISG), due this summer.
