The state of the economy appears to be giving many Westcountry businesses a case of the jitters. The Business Barometer shows that in the last six months the number of firms questioned who said they were confident of increasing trade has fallen by more than 20 per cent.
The number who said they planned to expand their workforce has dropped by more than 10 per cent to just 24 per cent. Almost 20 per cent of firms said they were likely to lay staff off within the next three months.See the full content of this document
